Thank you for your editorial "Boost prison education funds" (May 28).

I have been a volunteer at the Utah State Prison the past four years. The men I work with are struggling to redirect their lives, overcome past mistakes and prepare for their re-entry into society. The diminishing of educational opportunities for inmates has been a barrier to rehabilitation. The name of the associated state department is Department of Corrections. Correction and rehabilitation must be the priority.

Human dignity, theirs and ours, invites us to provide educational opportunities to prisoners.
