SOUTH SALT LAKE — A two-alarm fire caused more than $50,000 in damage to a Main Street business complex Tuesday night.

The fire started inside a business at 2480 S. Main around 8:45 p.m., said South Salt Lake Fire Chief Steve Foote. Flames spread into the building's attic, prompting officials to call out a second alarm.

Firefighters knocked the flames down quickly, Foote said, but smoke and water damaged several businesses in the complex. Heavy smoke also caused officials to evacuate a nearby bowling alley.

Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire Tuesday night, but Foot said the fire did not appear suspicious. No one was injured in the fire.
