LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors are recommending that a prominent New York lawyer be sentenced to nearly three years in prison and a $10 million fine for leading a conspiracy to cheat some of America's largest corporations.

Prosecutors have requested the full sentence allowed for Melvyn Weiss, which beyond the prison time and fine includes two years probation.

As part of a plea agreement, Weiss pleaded guilty last month to a racketeering conspiracy charge.
