WEST VALLEY CITY — The armed robbery of a cell phone store turned into a high speed chase down I-215 where the suspect and officers reached speeds of around 105 mph.

The chase ended in a controlled crash just beyond the 2100 South overpass and the suspect was sent to a hospital complaining of loss of consciousness and breathing trouble, said West Valley Police Capt. T. Mclachlan. The identity of the suspect has yet to be confirmed by police.

Mclachlan said officers were called to the area around 2 p.m. and spotted the suspect as he was leaving the store's parking lot at 2495 S. Redwood Road. Police pursued the suspect and followed him north onto I-215. As the suspect slowed to enter the onramp, officers were able to disable his vehicle by bumping the rear of the car, causing the suspect to spin out of control.
