David Archuleta epitomizes what many in Utah admire — carefully developed talent combined with wholesomeness: clean shaven, modesty and an infectious smile.

Still, his competitor, David Cook, was announced the winner.

The next morning, after the official decision was made, Utah's media seemed to have forgotten the name of Archuleta, instead interviewing Cook with adulation and praise. Archuleta's name was not mentioned.

Is there not greatness in noble effort — regardless of the outcome?

Sincere congratulations to the winner, but cheers for the efforts of Archuleta.
