After having had to change our outdoor Memorial Day plans because of the rain, my husband and I were watching KSL's 10 p.m. newscast. There was a wonderful story about the return of the 1st Battalion, 145th Field Artillery Unit, after 10 months' deployment in Iraq. Spc. Christopher Braisted remarked on what a lack of vegetation exists there and how nice it was to return to see it raining, their first time to see rain in months. It surely put a different spin on things. Although we didn't complain about the rain, since we need it, I hadn't realized that there were those who were really happy to see it.

Maybe the seemingly sudden change in the forecast was a salute to these soldiers who served us so well in Iraq!
