CLEARFIELD — An accident just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening on I-15 near Clearfield resulted in the death of a Salt Lake woman.

Ernestina "Tina" Strong, 41, Salt Lake City, was pronounced dead upon her arrival at the University of Utah Medical Center after being transported by helicopter from the accident scene.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Shane Nordfelt said witnesses at the scene told UHP troopers that a car that was merging into the center lane of northbound I-15 near the Clearfield junction caused another car to swerve left into the path of the car in which Strong was traveling. Norfeldt said it is believed that Strong's vehicle, in the far left lane at the time, rolled after her attempt to avoid a collision. Strong's car rolled through the median and across all southbound lanes, coming to rest on its tires on the far shoulder.

Strong was the only occupant of the vehicle.
