OREM — Medical officials are still investigating whether a woman found dead in a Lehi hot tub died as a result of a medical problem, drowning or both.

The woman, in her early 70s, was discovered around 6 p.m. Thursday evening by hotel patrons and the management of the Super 8 motel on 125 S. 850 East in Lehi, said Lehi Police Sgt. Brian Larsen.

The woman was alone and had been face down in the hot tub for a while before someone found her. It is unknown exactly how long she was there, Larsen said.

There was no evidence of foul play, Larsen said.

He said he has seen drownings or near-drownings in pools but nothing similar in a hot tub.
