ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The New Mexico Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 20, placing the game on the weekend before Christmas for the third straight year, ESPN Regional Television announced Friday.

The game matches teams from the Mountain West Conference and Western Athletic Conference. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. MST, two hours earlier than during the bowl's first two years.

"By moving the start time back a couple of hours, we can maximize the amount of sunlight for our fans," New Mexico Bowl executive director Jeff Siembieda said.

New Mexico beat Nevada 23-0 in last season's game, while San Jose State beat New Mexico 20-12 in 2006.
