SWIMMING: Coach Greg Winslow has announced four new additions to his staff. Charlie King and Marie Marsman have accepted positions as assistant coaches and recruiting coordinators, while former Ute diver Kelsey Patterson joins the staff as the diving coach. Sean Biedermann rounds out the new hires as a graduate assistant.

TENNIS: Utah's doubles team of Elizabeth Ferris and Emily Kwok lost to Alex Haney and Melissa Koning of Auburn in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships on Thursday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla. Ferris and Kwok won the first set 7-6, then dropped the last two sets by identical 6-3 scores. Both seniors, Ferris and Kwok finished their season with a 19-5 doubles record.

Southern Utah

SOCCER: SUU women's soccer coach Brian Stock announced the hiring of Theresa Reedy as the new assistant coach for the program. Reedy will join the Thunderbirds by way of Murray State University.

BASEBALL: The Thunderbirds dropped their opening-round game of the Summit League Baseball Tournament 9-6 Thursday to Western Illinois. The loss puts SUU in the losers bracket, with the T-birds facing the loser of the Oral Roberts/Centenary nightcap today at 11 a.m.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: SUU's Kirrily Burden and Lenny Lee both received Summit League postseason honors this week as the conference released its all-league teams. Burden earned a spot on the all-league first team, while Lee was tabbed as the conference's coach of the year.

GOLF: Matt McArthur has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic all-District VIII at-large team, it was announced Thursday.

BASKETBALL: Nick Honda and Jeramie Hopson have each signed an NAIA letter of intent to play for the Westminster men's basketball team for the 2007-08 season.
