Police said an unknown driver damaged parts of the lawn of an LDS chapel at 155 West and 1600 South in Orem.

Orem Police Sgt. Shane Frederickson said that it's not a rare occurrence and police have caught people in the past vandalizing church and park lawns. He said the call about the vandalism came from a church maintenance worker, who noticed it when he arrived at the church Thursday morning.

Frederickson said it's difficult for police to track down vandals when all they are left with is tire tracks. But he said those caught are criminally charged for their actions, as the repairing damage can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
