Salt Lake-area MoveOn members are planning "a protest with a twist" during President Bush's fundraising trip to Utah next week.
The grassroots group MoveOn.org will host the Bush-McCain Challenge at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Library Square, 210 E. 400 South. Voters who take the quiz will try to tell the difference between the policy positions and statements of Bush and presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain.
MoveOn members say it's a new twist on the old Pepsi-Coke challenge.
"Voters literally can't tell the difference between President Bush and Sen. McCain on issues," said Tresa Stitley of Salt Lake City. "A vote for John McCain is a vote for a third Bush term, and the Bush-McCain Challenge is a fun and engaging way of reminding voters just how similar Bush and McCain are."
MoveOn groups will host the Bush-McCain Challenge in more than 300 cities and towns across the nation Wednesday. The quiz also can be taken online at www.bush-mccainchallenge.com. About 500,000 people have taken the quiz since the Web site launched earlier this month, according to MoveOn.
Bush will be in Utah on Wednesday to appear at fundraisers for McCain in Salt Lake City and Deer Valley. He is expected to meet with the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday.
