A man suspected of shooting his brother-in-law in the head Monday has turned himself in to police.

Robert Greg Martinez, 41, turned himself over to officials at the Salt Lake County Jail Tuesday morning, said Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard.

Police say Martinez shot his brother-in-law, 54, in the hand and head at their home near 250 South and 1100 West on Monday night. The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

Martinez is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail without bail on suspicion of attempted homicide and several outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
