Robin Anderson cleans up flooded water in Rose Park Elementary in Salt Lake City, Utah, Wednesday morning after an 8-inch water line broke.

Students from Rose Park Elementary will be staying home from school today.

An 8-inch sprinkler line located right behind the school, 1105 W. 1000 North, and under a concreted area, burst sometime overnight and flooded the first floor of the building, said district spokesman Jason Olsen.

Several inches of water filled the first floor of the school Wednesday morning. Books in the library were up high enough that they should escape damage, he said. But any boxes of papers or supplies left by teachers on their classroom floors "will be a big concern," Olsen said.

As of Wednesday morning, the plan was to resume a normal school schedule tomorrow, he said.

Rose Park Elementary has approximately 500 students in grades K through 6.
