High winds caused numerous outages in the Salt Lake Valley Tuesday night, a Rocky Mountain Power spokesman said early today.
"At the height of the outages, about 11,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers were without power, primarily in the east Mill Creek and Cottonwood Heights areas, although other areas experienced outages as well," Jeff Hymas said.
He said power was restored in stages to the majority of customers Tuesday night. As of midnight, about 2,500 customers were still without power, he said.
Hymas said crews would work through the night and into the morning to restore power to the remaining customers.
