A 21-year-old man was shot while driving along a Salt Lake City street Tuesday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., the man was driving near 400 South and 900 West when a shot was fired from a man in another car, said Salt Lake police Lt. C.T. Smith.
The victim was taken to Intermountain Medical Center where he was in serious but stable condition Tuesday night.
"It's very fortunate that he wasn't more seriously injured," Smith said.
The victim knew the suspected shooter and it appeared as though "their past history" played a role in the incident, though police could not elaborate.
"We probably have a lot more questions than answers right now," Smith said.
Investigators detained one man in connection with the incident, police said. No arrest had been made as of 10 p.m.
