Numerous competitors have left Hollywood and moved to the East Coast to take a stab at Broadway; many have done so successfully.

Clay Aiken, Season 2 — Starring in Monty Python's Spamalot.

Fantasia Barrino, Season 3 — Starred in The Color Purple and is signed on to star in the movie version.

Frenchie Davis, Season 2 — After a strong early showing, Frenchie was disqualified after inapproriate photos of her were posted on the Internet; she went on to star in Rent.

Diana DeGarmo, Season 3 — Starred as Penny Pingleton in Hairspray, then toured with the national touring company of Brooklyn the Musical before returning to Broadway in Hairspray again.

Tamyra Gray, Season 1 — Starred in Rent and Bombay Dreams and is loving it!

Ruben Studdard, Season 2 — Will star in the national tour of Ain't Misbehavin,' a tribute to the music of Fats Waller, with a scheduled stop in Salt Lake City.

Jennifer Hudson, Season 3 — Was cast as Effie in the movie Dreamgirls, winning herself an Oscar and buzz about mounting a stage revival.

Latoya London, Season 3 — Acted in Los Angeles and later joined the Broadway tour of The Color Purple.

Constantine Maroulis, Season 4 — Performed on Broadway in The Wedding Singer and off-Broadway in Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.

Anthony Fedorov, Season 4 — Performed off-Broadway in The Fantasticks.

Taylor Hicks, Season 5 — Will join the Broadway cast of Grease as the teen angel on June 6.
