Salt Lake County Library Services will celebrate the start of summer with the annual Summer Reading Kick-off Party at Wheeler Farm, 6351 S. 900 East, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 2.

Special performances will include Presto the Magician, music from The KlezBros and a professional storyteller. In addition to crafts and activities, Hogle Zoo and the Utah Museum of Natural History will have exhibits for patrons to enjoy. Library patrons can sign up for the Summer Reading program at the party.

This is an outdoor event, so families are encouraged to bring a blanket and a picnic dinner. Last year more than 14,000 county residents participated in the three-month Summer Reading program, which has separate programs for children, teens and adults.
