MEN'S SOCCER: PROVO — The Cougars added a second win to this season's record with a 2-1 victory over the Spokane Spiders Saturday night. Zach Defrancis scored the game's first goal in the 40th minute and five minutes later, Curtis Graham drew a penalty kick that was also finished by Defrancis. Spokane scored in the final seconds of the game to avoid the shutout. The Cougars beat the Oregon Cascade 5-1 on Friday night. BYU will be on the road next weekend at the Yakima Reds on Friday and at the Tacoma Tide on Saturday.

Mtn. West

BASEBALL: BYU and Utah will meet in the first round of the postseason when the two play Tuesday night at TCU in the conference tournament. The winner advances to face either TCU or New Mexico. The loser will play in the double-elimination bracket against either UNLV or San Diego on Wednesday morning. The tournament winner receives the automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.

Utah Valley

BASEBALL: Marcus Moore made the final start of his career a memorable one and sent Utah Valley head coach Steve Gardner out with a win with a three-hit shutout, 2-0, in front of 4,452 fans at Hawaii on Saturday night. The Wolverines finished the year 17-35-1 with Moore (10-5) winning a school record 10 games during his senior season. Gardner, who coached his final game after 18 seasons in Orem, finished with 471 career wins.
