—Daisuke Matsuzaka, Red Sox, went 6 2-3 innings and scattered seven hits and a pair of walks in a 5-3 win over Milwaukee. He walked two and both runs he allowed were unearned.

—Nick Markakis, Orioles, homered and drove in three runs in a 6-5 victory over Washington.

—Rod Barajas, Blue Jays, homered twice and drove in five runs against his former team, helping Toronto to a 6-3 victory over Philadelphia.

—Mike Jacobs, Marlins, homered, tripled and drove in three runs in his return to the lineup, helping Florida snap a four-game skid with a 7-3 win over Kansas City.


Andy Pettitte allowed three runs in six innings in the Yankees' 7-4 loss to the Mets, falling to 0-4 in his last five starts — his longest skid since May 2003. It was his first loss to the Mets at Yankee Stadium since June 16, 1997.
