LOGAN — A cat that spent several days stuck in a tree has the Logan fire department rewriting its rules about rescuing animals.

The cat's owner says that twice she called the fire department and twice she was told the department doesn't assist in cat rescues.

The cat eventually made it to safety on its own.

Fire Chief Mark Meaker says a new policy would have the duty officer decide whether an animal rescue should be attempted.

He met with Mayor Randy Watts on Friday to discuss the change. It will be up for formal approval next week.
