A 20-year-old male University of Utah student was charged Friday with two second-degree felony counts of forcible sexual abuse of a 16-year-old female stemming from incidents that occurred in a campus dorm on April 8.

According to a 3rd District Court affidavit, the victim was visiting a friend at the Gateway Heights residence hall at the U. and had spent the evening "hanging out" with three other females and four males, including the defendant. Late that night, the victim refused the offer of a back rub from the defendant and went to bed. A short time later, she said she heard the door to the dorm close and assumed the man had left. About and hour and a half later, she said she awoke to the defendant in her bed, sexually assaulting her, the court documents say.

The case was investigated by campus police.
