"Medallion" (cotton and twill, 90 by 62 inches, 2005) by Loretta P. Bennett, American, b. 1960.

"Gee's Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt," on display at the Denver Art Museum through July 6, is a compelling exhibition featuring quilts made by generations of black women living near a bend in the Alabama river. By using discarded denim and corduroy and other recycled scraps of fabrics, these women made quilts that are considered today to be works of art. For more information visit www.denverartmuseum.org.
