Mark Wesemann Smith1953 ~ 2012Mark Wesemann Smith peacefully slipped away on February 6, 2012 in the arms of his son Jonathan, following a brief struggle with cancer. He was so happy to spend his final days surrounded by his loving children, friends and family.Mark was born on August 6, 1953 in Salt Lake City, to Boyd A Smith and Ruth Wesemann Smith. His family moved to California where he graduated from high school and attended college. He served an LDS Brussels Belgium Mission and later graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College. At the time of his death he was medical director and teacher at Eagle Gate College. He had a passion for learning and really enjoyed sharing that knowledge with "his" students. Mark was known for his great stories, and his love of music. He was a classical organist and loved playing and listening to music. His children remember many afternoons and evenings spent with their dad at organ or choir recitals and listening to his vast collection of CD's. He was also a superb cook and it was a special treat to spend time with him making a delicious recipe that he had created.He is survived by his children, Laura (Randy Barton), Michelle (Jacob Durham), Jonathan and Amy, their mother Robyn and their sister Christina. He is also survived by his friend Cory Denning, his sister Karen (Mark Dell), and brother David (Kathleen) nieces and nephews, and many extended family and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents Boyd and Ruth Smith and we know that they are now together. The family expresses thanks to South Side Church of Christ for making their facility available for the memorial service and viewing. A memorial service will be held Friday Feb 10, 2012, at 2:30 at 3138 West 7000 South West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same location from 1:00 to 2:30. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City following the memorial service.
