David "Suni" Willie, Jr.2/8/1964 ~ 4/13/2010In MemoriamIn our grief we neglected to print Suni's obituary in the Salt Lake Valley for his friends and acquaintances. Our family will never forget the kindness extended by the UTA Bus Driver and the passengers to assist our Brother. Thank you and god bless you!Our brother, son, father, uncle, nephew, friend, "Suni" was born February 8, 1964 to David Sr. and Gertrude Chapoose Willie, he was the only boy in a family with six girls. He was taken from us early Tuesday morning, April 13, 2010, a fatality of a hit and run driver. The news wrongly portrayed our brother as being homeless and alone at his death. Many knew that Suni lived with our father in West Jordan until a careless cigarette of a neighbor left their home ruined. Suni was not alone when he died; we know our mother and sister were by his side to comfort him as he drew his last breath. In younger years, Suni was an all-star pitcher for the Pony and Bronco Leagues in West Jordan and a KSL homerun hitter. He was an avid hunter and took his game in one shot. He loved fishing and with his gang-Bacon, Charlie, Terry, Bobby, Caveman, and Timmy-wolf went fishing along the river bottoms and Bottle Hollow. Suni loved cooking and learned to make the best homemade spaghetti sauce from our mom. When he came home we all put on twenty pounds.Suni is survived by his children, Jonathan and Alexander, Salt Lake City, his father, David Sr., West Jordan, sisters, Jerileen Willie, Salt Lake City, Joyleen (Jonas) Grant, Jayleen "Jodi" (late Willard Sr.) Gardner, Sonja Elaine (Tim Sirewop) Willie, Tonja "Dolli" (late John Reyos) Willie, sister-cousins, Betsy (Sam Shore) Chapoose, Connora Chapoose, Fort Duchesne, Utah.
