Kenneth "Gary" McDonald"Red" & "Mac"Gary McDonald peacefully passed away on February 5, 2012, following a short struggle with Leukemia. He was grateful to spend his final days surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.Always the life of the party, Gary brought laughter to all those he came to know. The "nicest and best looking guy in town," he is a graduate of the University of Utah and a veteran of the United States Navy. Gary spent the bulk of his career working for AT&T/Lucent before retiring in 1998. He was a prolific dancer and singer often despite his natural abilities and enjoyed showing his family love by relentlessly teasing them. Among Gary's many accomplishments was his friendship with Bill W. since 1985.He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella Mae Willis, and his father, Frank K. McDonald. Gary is survived by his blushing bride, Sue, and his children, N.R. & Tonya Wilde, Kari & Jim Dunn, Michelle & Bryan Schumacher, and Lorie & Mark Joslyn. He also leaves behind the grandchildren who reveled in the attention of their grandfather: Josh, Doug, Corey, Heather, Jordan, Taylor, Casey, Madisson and Carlie. Additionally, Gary is survived by his mother, Carol Campagna and his siblings: Gayle, Vickie, Glenn, Jodi, Cindy and Heidi, along with numerous nieces and nephews.A public viewing will be held Thursday, February 9 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street in Murray, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 18th Ward, 6410 South 725 East in Murray, Utah, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Gary's name may be made to The Christmas Box House or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
