Dorene "Pat" Hansen1932 ~ 2012Pat Hansen died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday February 3, 2012 in South Jordan, Utah. She was born in Beaver, Utah on June 21, 1932 to Abe and Ora Gunn Boyle. She married her eternal sweetheart, Douglas William Hansen, on November 6, 1953 in the St. George Temple. Pat was raised in Long Beach, graduating from Jordan High School. She then graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Physical Education- Dance and a minor in English. She was a member of Orchesis Dance Club. She loved dance and shared her passion with her daughters, granddaughters, and great grand-daughters. She loved theater and spent many hours writing and directing ward road shows. She supported Community Theater treating her children and grandchildren to many local productions. A few years after she married Doug, he finished his baseball career with the Cleveland Indians and they made their permanent home in Orem, Utah. Together they had eight children plus a nephew they called their own which includes: Dennis Hansen (Janet), Dorene Nyman (Mike), Bob Hansen, Maureen Hansen, Gary Hansen, Teri Taylor (Matt), Lisa Smith, Julie Moore Jarzynka (Troy), Jennie Johnson-Fitzpatrick (Les), twenty grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Their unfaltering love carried them through the joys and sorrows of life. Her sweetheart, Doug passed away on September 16, 1999. In 2002-2003 Pat traveled to Beijing China to teach English to university students. She returned a few months early due to the outbreak of SARS. She married Robert E. Reid on October 25, 2003. Robert passed away on March 13, 2007. She loved fun and adventure, making many treks to the top of Mt. Timpanogos, even at age 68 with her granddaughters. She was an office manager for over 20 years for Dr. Blaine Hirsche and Dr. James Clayton, and then for Dr. Jon Bishop. Pat was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including Primary president, counselor in the Relief Society, missionary at the Conference Center, volunteer at the MTC. She had unconditional love for all she knew. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Doug, son Robert, daughter Maureen, and son in law Doug Johnson. The family wishes to thank Legacy Assisted Living and Hearts for Hospice for their love and care.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Park 7th Ward Chapel, 1160 West 400 South, Orem, Utah. Family and Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to the services at the church.
