Nina Reid Trusty Thomson1924 ~ 2012Nina Reid Trusty Thomson, age 87, left this world on February 1, 2012 in the home of her son. The daughter of Nina Mandila Butts Reid and Clyde Emmitt Reid. Born in, Ogden, Utah on May 13, 1924. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Francis Gerald Trusty, and Norman J "Ted" Thomson. Nina was also preceded in death by her daughter Diana Lynn Trusty. Nina was a world traveler visiting every continent with the exception Antarctica. Nina was also a member of the Governor's council for the aging and was a valued member of the Salt Lake City branch of the YWCA. Nina was constantly crocheting often delivering dozens of hats and mittens to the Utah homeless shelter. Whether climbing the steps of a Tibetan temple, sporting her kilt in the SLC Scottish festival, teaching a water aerobics class for senior citizens, or waitressing at the Kuong Jou, Nina kept busy, and truly lived life on her own terms. The world is a lesser place now that she has been called home.Nina is survived by her sons, Clyde Theodore Trusty (Carole), Jeffery Trusty (Sherry), and daughter Margaret Benedict Trusty, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. An evening viewing will be held on Monday February 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Larkin Mortuary at 260 E South Temple. The funeral will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens on Tuesday February 7th at 2:00 pm located at 1950 E 10600 S Sandy, Utah. Online condolences may be made at www.larkincares.com.
