Elmo Thomas Sprunt"Mr. Wonderful"Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather passed away peacefully at home, February 2, 2012. Elmo Thomas Sprunt was born April 25, 1925 to Thomas and Eva Lance Sprunt. Married Claudia Tucker in 1954 (later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple). Elmo loved his dogs, his motorcycle, hunting and fishing, but especially his sweetheart Claudia. He adored his grandchildren. He was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the executive secretary for over 20 years. Claudia and Elmo served in the Temple every week come rain or shine. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Elmo received many awards and medals for valor and bravery; the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Navy Cross, the Asiatic Pacific Medal with two stars, the Air Medal with four stars, and two Purple Hearts. He was our hero. Survived by his children, Lorrin ( Carol), James, and Tom; grandchildren, Jason (Misti), Heather, and Lisa; great grandchildren, Chelsey, Felisha, Aryanna, Trysten, and Brenden; great great grandson, Aayden. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons, Leslie and Johnny Bill, one brother and one baby sister. Our family would like to express gratitude to Salt Lake Regional Hospital, Rocky Mountain Hunter Hollow Rehabilitation, and First Choice Hospice for their compassionate care.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, 11:00 am at the Rose Park 6th Ward, 1155 North 1200 West, Salt Lake City, UT A viewing will be held on Monday February 6th, 2012, from 6-8:00 pm at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, UT and one hour prior to the service at the church.
