The Velazquez family shops with their food stamps Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 in the last Farmers' market at Pioneer Park in Salt Lake City.

It is troubling to learn that there seem to be so many people who approve of a "food stamp" economy, as proposed by our current administration. What we need, as was stated by Newt Gingrich, is a "paycheck" economy in which there are a lot of new jobs with people employed and earning an income. It is a sad situation when there are so many people dependent on a government welfare program.

The people of the U.S. need to be able to go back to work and earn their own way, not to be dependent on government.
