Carlos Dunford Gardiner1923 ~ 2012Carlos Dunford Gardiner passed away peacefully at his home on January 26, 2012.He was born of goodly parents, Eli Arthur Gardiner and Margaret Dunford Gardiner, on May 19, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Following his military service he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tahiti. He married Lucille Boulton on Aug. 25, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a life-long Scouter serving in many leadership capacities. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for his many years of service. Dad wanted to thank all those who touched his life in so many ways and brought him so much joy. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Lucille; three sons; Kim (Gayle) of Sandy, Utah; Kevin (Debbie) of Heber City, Utah; and Vance (Cheryl) of Mondamin, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; his brothers; Nephi, Vance, Eli Arthur Jr. and Alma; and his sisters, Pauline Carlson and Patricia "Patty" Elwood. A visitation with family and close friends will be held on Friday, Feb. 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive in Holladay, Ut. Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4th at the Springview Ward, 3153 S. 900 E. in Salt Lake City at noon. Family and friends may also visit at the Springview Ward from 10:30 to 11:30 am prior to the services. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at Caregiver Support Network for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Primary Children's Medical Center.
