Supporters of Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, cheer the closing of the polls at his Florida primary primary night rally in Tampa, Fla., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012.

TAMPA, Fla. — A victorious Mitt Romney is sounding like the presumptive Republican nominee after thrashing Newt Gingrich in Florida.

Romney says he is ready to lead the Republican Party and the nation. He is all but calling on the Republican Party to coalesce behind him. He says his rivals are all good competitors.

Romney says a competitive primary will not divide the GOP but make the party more competitive. He says Republicans will win the general election.

He is also comparing himself to President Barack Obama saying he is a leader and that Obama has chosen to follow.
