Kathryn Virginia Chipman Wyant1923 ~ 2012Kathryn Virginia Chipman Wyant returned to her Heavenly Father on January 25, 2012. She died peacefully at home. She was 88 years old. Kathryn was born on February 19, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Effie Ione Harvey Chipman and Stephen Roy Chipman. Kathryn married Charles J. Wyant on September 14, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Wyant. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Wyant, and by her parents, Effie Ione Harvey Chipman and Stephen Roy Chipman as well as her brother, Reese, and her two sisters, Helen and Lucille. Kathryn attended South High School and LDS Business College. She worked as a secretary at the Army-Air Base during World War II where she met her future husband, Charles J. Wyant. After the war, she worked as a secretary at the Utah State Capitol until her daughter, Sharon, was born. Kathryn was a wonderful, loving, and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a visiting teacher and sang in the ward choir for many years. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in various choirs throughout her life. She loved beautiful classical music. She also loved animals, especially cats. Kathryn was proud of her pioneer heritage and was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers organization for many years. Special thanks to her doctor, Mark Cacciamani, and to the Alpine Hospice team for their support and special care which they gave Kathryn during her final months. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28th at 11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
