Kay S. Kelly1922 ~ 2012Kay loved a party. She ensured a great one for her dear John as she timed her passing to be with him on his birthday, January 23, 2012. Katherine (Kay) Lacey was born January 5, 1922 in Salt Lake to Roy D. and Rhoda Vickers Shill. She married John Henry Kelly August 14, 1943. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, July 3, 2007. As West High historian, Pi Phi at the U. of U., accomplished pianist, avid reader, Kay's wit and wisdom became treasured trademarks. She valued hard work, finally retiring at 82 from Research Park's heart transplant unit only because they closed the office. She loved golf, tennis, key lime pie, her sister's coconut cake, family celebrations and vacations, movie night at Lynnette's, and Weds. mornings working at the SL temple. Hundreds of family pictures covered her kitchen walls, cupboards, and refrigerator attesting to her devotion to grandchildren and great grandchildren. She felt blessed by a wonderful ward that gave her opportunities to serve and grow in the gospel these past five years. Kay is survived by her three children: J. Scott (Kathy) Kelly, Shannon (Jeff) Butler, and L. Kevin (Khaliel) Kelly; sister Marie (Jim) Clemens, 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her life-long dance partner John. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 28, noon, at Monument Park 1st Ward, 1005 S. 2000 E., Salt Lake City.
