SALT LAKE CITY — It's been a busy offseason of high school football coaching changes, and the past couple of weeks have been no different as Wasatch, Bonneville and West have all hired new coaches.

On Tuesday, Wasatch announced the hiring of former Snow College coach Steve Coburn as its new head coach. Coburn was head coach at Snow from 2006 to 2010, but after being let go he spent a year as head coach at nearby North Sanpete last season.

Wasatch will be Coburn's fifth head coaching job at the high school level in Utah, having spent time at Morgan, Ogden and Cottonwood from 1988 to 2000.

"This was a long and involved search and we were very pleased with the quality of candidates who want to coach at Wasatch. Coach Coburn will bring years of experience with him to this job, and we are excited for him to get started," said Wasatch principal Shawn Kelly in a press release.

Corbin replaces Craig Davis, who served as Wasatch's interim coach last year after the legal troubles of former coach Steve North.

Earlier this month, West announced the hiring of Keith Lopati as head coach.. He replaces Justin Spencer who left to become the head coach at Woods Cross.

Lopati, a Highland High graduate, served as West's defensive coordinator last year following a six-year stint as an assistant at his alma mater.

West went 6-6 last year, winning its first playoff game since 1997. Lopati hopes to build on that upward trend.

Last week Bonneville announced the hiring of former quarterback Tyler Gladwell as its head coach. Gladwell, who graduated from Bonneville in 1996, has been an assistant at Davis for the past six years.

He replaces Randy Johnson, who stepped down after a 5-5 season last year.

Other schools with new football coaches are: Skyline (Steve Marlowe), Pleasant Grove (Les Hamilton), Westlake (Gary Clark), Cyprus (Scott Wooldridge), Clearfield (Will Hawes), Provo (Cody Mallory), Murray (Mike Richmond) and Layton Christian (Kitt Rawlings).

Hunter, Deseret Hills and Uintah are in the midst of hiring new coaches as well.
