John Wayne Howell1933 ~ 2012John Wayne was born May 27, 1933 in Brigham City, Utah. He passed away on Monday, February 23, 2012 in his assisted living home in Bountiful, Utah. John Wayne served in the US Navy aboard the USS Yorktown and USS Princeton during the Korean War. Later, he worked for Western Electric in Ogden then transferred to Mountain Bell (later Qwest) as a systems engineer. After retiring from Qwest he worked as an insurance agent serving Allstate clients for many years.John Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, John Wilbur and Bertha Baird Howell and his brother Lee G. Howell. John Wayne married Mary (Mercedes) Alvarado and had four children; Ronald Lee, Kenneth Ray, John Jay and James. They were later divorced and he then married Evelena Price (deceased), adopting her two daughters Pamela (Gary) Young and Bev (Tom) Reynolds. Together they had four children Michael Wade (Melissa), Karen B. (Mike) Vanhulten, Carrie Lee (Chris) Lund and Paul (Kathy). Later, he married Jane Ellis and adopted her four children: Briton L, Bryan P. (Melissa), Cynthia K Chidester and Spencer (Augusta).He is survived by his brother David and sister Dorothy Jenkins, his above mentioned children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Motorcycling was his passion and he enjoyed many years of riding and serving in leadership capacities for A.B.A.T.E of Utah and the Motorcycle Riders Foundation.A graveside service will be held at the Brigham City Cemetery at 300 East 300 South, Brigham City on Friday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements for his burial are by Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful, Utah.
