SALT LAKE CITY — A local store owner and two employees were charged with possession of a controlled substance, Spice, with the intent to distribute, a third-degree felony.
An undercover detective visited the Smoke House, located at 2343 E. 3300 South, on Nov. 12, 2011. He asked a 23-year-old employee for "potpourri," a slang term for Spice. The employee retrieved the Spice and sold it to the detective for $7.47, according to charging documents filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court.
An arrest warrant was served and detectives seized 6.5 pounds of various brands of Spice in December, the documents state.
The 21-year-old owner of the store and the store's only other employees, the 23-year-old and a 19-year-old, were all charged.
