Ray was honored to have served on an LDS mission in the Western Canadian Mission from 1953 to 1955, also as a temple worker, stake missionary, and in various leadership positions throughout his life. He was famous for his taco parties and water fights. Ray loved outdoor activities such as: hunting, fishing, water skiing with family, camping, and golfing. He was still adventurous in his later years, and loved learning new things with his family, for example: he learned to scuba dive with his sons after he was in his seventies.
