Cleon R. Ard1924 ~ 2012Cleon Ruthvin Ard was born Aug. 17, 1924 to Joseph and Myrtle Ard in Tetonia, Idaho. He passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Jan. 17, 2012.He was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Italy and Germany from 1944-1946. He and Delene Baler were married on Aug. 10, 1947, and they celebrated their 64th anniversary in 2011.They were sealed with their family in the Logan Temple while living in Brigham City, Utah, later moving to Kearns in 1955.Cleon worked at Hill Air Force Base for 22 years, and was employed by N.C.R. for many years thereafter. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Stake Missionary, as the Kearns 10th Ward Clerk for three different bishops, and later served as a veil worker at the Jordan River Temple from 1982-92. Since 2006, Cleon spent many enjoyable hours at the Kearns Senior Center as a member of the Harmoni-Katzz, a harmonica performance group.He is survived by his wife, Delene, and his children Ken, Brenda Clark, Colleen (Gary) Snow, DeWayne (Kris), Shauna (Mark) Petersen and Brian, brother Don and sisters Eva, Wanda and Nelda, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lysle and Doyle, sisters Nadean and Anona, son Keith and four beloved grandchildren.The Ard family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the employees of Legacy Hospice for their kind, dedicated service with special thanks to Carlos and Colleen.A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 22 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23 at 10 am, with a viewing prior to the service from 9-9:45 am. Both viewings and funeral will take place at the Kearns 10th Ward chapel, 5025 West 4865 South.Interment at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South.Services are under the direction of Redwood Memorial Mortuary; online condolences may be shared with the family at
