Former BYU Cougar Jason Buck started 31 games in the NFL, including Super Bowl XXIII with the Bengals.

Washington Redskins defenders Kurt Gouveia and Jason Buck played significant roles in the Redskins' 37-24 win over the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI. Gouveia intercepted a pass and ran it 23 yards to the 2-yard line to set up Washington's first touchdown of the second half while Buck sacked Kelly with 2:06 remaining in the first half to effectively snuff out a Buffalo drive. The play of the ex-BYU players extended to 12 the number of times former Cougars have been on the roster of the winning team in the Super Bowl. Ever since Super Bowl XV in 1981, when Oakland defeated Philadelphia 27-10, the Cougars have had a tie-in to the ring-winning team.

Buffalo linebacker Hal Garner, a former Utah State standout, had two tackles.
