Raymond W. Leake1936 ~ 2012Raymond W. Leake passed away peacefully at home in Bluffdale, Utah on Monday, January, 16, 2012 as a result of his battle with liver disease.Ray was born to Lewis A. Leake and Margery A. Walker on September 28, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married his sweetheart, Monica Ilene Hancock, in the Salt Lake temple, and together they enjoyed 57 years of love and friendship. Ray was extremely dedicated to his family and all of his church callings and he faithfully honored his priesthood. Ray was an example to his family of service, hard work, and generosity. Ray was extremely talented and lived life to the fullest. He always had a dream, and he always accomplished what he set out to achieve. His creed in life was to give 150% in all he did, and Ray consistently set an example for his children to do the same. Ray had many hobbies, some of which include woodworking, boating at Lake Powell, cycling, water skiing, hot air ballooning, and motorcycling. Ray was involved in the automatic fire sprinkler trade for over 40 years. His reputation was important to him and he was well respected among those in his industryboth by his colleagues and his competitors. More than 30 years ago, he started Alta Fire Protection. Among many things, his family will remember him for the sparkle in his eyes. Ray was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals who assisted Ray and his family throughout his illness.Ray is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, one brother, one daughter, one grandson, and five great-grandsons. Ray is survived by his wife, Monica; his children, Vickie and Dan Pearson, Kevin and Shauna Leake, Kathy and Brad Nelson, Marilyn and Lynn Spafford, and Derick and Christie Leake; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; a foster daughter, Florie Landvatter; and five foster grandchildren.A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, located at 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. Funeral services will be held at the Bluffdale Stake Center, located at 2700 West and 14400 South in Bluffdale on Monday, January 23rd at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing to precede the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Redwood Memorial Estates.
