ALBANY, Ore. — Police have identified the four people who were in a car when it was swept into a flooding creek in Albany. A child died and his mother is still missing.

Police said the body of 20-month old Aiden McLaughlin was found in Periwinkle Creek early Thursday morning. His mother, Catherine McLaughlin, has not been found.

Albany Fire Department spokeswoman Wanda Omdahl says McLaughlin is presumed dead.

Police said the car's driver, 24-year-old Christopher Wilgus, and his, 5-year-old son-year-old Maliki Wilgus, were rescued after being carried downstream.

Divers from the fire department will search the creek when water levels drop.

Up to 10 inches of rain fell on the Oregon Coast Range in a 36-hour period, and more rain and flooding is on the way.
