Nicholas PapadakisApr. 25, 1941~Jan. 17, 2012Our beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend passed away surrounded by family after a long battle with lung cancer. Nicholas was born in Embrosneros, Crete, to Mihalis and Hrysi Papadakis. He was an officer in the Greek army and attended the Athens Polytechnic before coming to the US in 1971. He immigrated to New York to follow his dreams and ambitions, and during this time he became a successful businessman. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1985 and on May 3, 1986, married Jennifer Thomson. Together they had four children, Hrysoula, Michael, Katina, and George, who brought him much joy. He had many different business ventures, but is especially endeared to those in Park City who knew him as Nick of Nick's Greek Café. He is survived by his wife, his sisters Maria and Katina, and his children. There will be a viewing on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church (5335 South Highland Drive) from 6-8 p.m. with a Trisagion/prayer service starting at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Prophet Elias Church on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of Utah Cancer Specialists.
