Hamilton Douglas Little1939 ~ 2012Our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away on January 15, 2012 having struggled for many years with his health. He was born June 3, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Hamilton LaMar Little and Edith Elizabeth Preston.Doug is survived by his dearest life-long friend and companion Doreen Latsis Harmon, his brother Brent Little (Jackie), his son Rick Little (Diane), his son Stephen Little (Ginny), his daughter Shellie Ehlert (Jack), his former wife Judith Little Winkler, and a loving group of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.Doug was an accomplished pianist by the time he was 14 and enjoyed playing throughout his life. He attended Cyprus High School. Doug proudly served in the US Navy for four years aboard the destroyer USS Hanson in the Pacific. He worked for many years as a sheet metal worker and welder. Doug loved his job and developed talents that made him an artist in that occupation. His expertise was in constant demand. After hurting his back, Doug was a realtor.Doug's passion was golf and he loved playing with friends at the Cottonwood Club. He was a very talented carpenter and he could fix anything.After a blood transfusion in connection with back surgery in 1979, Doug contracted Hepatitis C virus (HCV). The disease attacked his liver. Doug was very fortunate to receive a liver transplant in 1996. He received the organ of a young man killed in a motorcycle accident. Doug's loved ones have continued to remember the generous gift of a grieving family that extended life to another. Thank you for making it possible for Doug to have another 15 years.A memorial service will be held at the LDS chapel located at 1945 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to help fund organ transplants and research.
