In response to a recent column "FreedomWorks prepared to spend big money in Utah to defeat Hatch," (Jan. 12):

My opinion is that, if the Utah tea party wants to campaign for or against any candidate, that is its right and prerogative, but organizations or persons outside of the state should leave the matter of who we choose to represent us to Utahns. We don't need an outside organization telling us the good or bad points of our representatives. We know them and their record; it is reported by the local media.

I also wonder how the national tea party solicited funds for this type of campaign. Did they inform the donors that it was their intent to go after certain candidates, and if so, did they name them so that there was full disclosure?

Let Utahns and Utah money decide for Utah.
