Kennett Rogers1925 ~ 2012Kennett Hoggan Rogers was born Jan. 19, 1925 to Alfred John Rogers and Dorice Hoggan in Lindon, Utah. He graduated from this life on Jan 14, 2012 in Bountiful, Utah. He was the 4th of seven children. He served in World War II as a Naval Flight Engineer, after which he fulfilled an LDS mission in Eastern Canada. He later attended BYU where he earned degrees in Mathematics and Physics. It was there he met Clothield Newren. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on July 1, 1953. They had eight children: Becky (Dana) Overacker, Dorice (Chris) Galbraith, Eileen (Scott) Werner, Kennett (Sandra) Rogers, Leon (Brenda) Rogers, Carl (Matilla) Rogers, Keith Rogers, and David (Teia) Rogers. Kennett had a range of careers that were cultivated from his extensive Math and Physics education. These careers ranged from Rocket Science to Teaching, and he excelled in them all.Kennett's great passions in life were family, scouting, and gardening. He served in various scouting capacities for decades. He received a personal letter from President Ronald Reagan commending him for accomplishments as a Scout Master. He was a positive influence in the lives of many young men.Many, many hours were spent gardening. When he entered a garden, every weed cringed and all plants stood a little taller. He experimented with different techniques of grafting and created a tree that grew three varieties of apples.Kennett will always be remembered by all those who knew him for his extraordinary work ethic and his high expectation for excellence do it right.Both the Viewing and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at the Bountiful Eighteenth Ward Church house, 165 South, 1000 East Bountiful, UT.
