Merrick William "Bill" Blake1925 ~ 2012Merrick William "Bill" Blake, 86 passed away January 12, 2012. He was born in Salt Lake City to Merrick D. and Annie H. Blake. He married his sweetheart, Joanne Ludlow, on August 8, 1946 in the Logan Temple. Their love story is one like no other, their devotion and unconditional love is inspiring. Bill loved his country and his fellow man, honorably serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was well-known and respected for his integrity as he successfully ran his own business; Blake Sales Co. Bill was a mentor to many in all aspects of life. He gave selflessly of his time and talents to make our lives richer, better and full of laughter. Bill was very approachable. His quick wit and sense of humor made you know that instantly he was your friend. He spent countless hours of one-on-one time with his children and grandchildren. It takes a special Grandpa for each one of his grandchildren to believe that they were his favorite.He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne, children: Steven Blake, Rob (Sue) Blake, Janet (Jim) Jones, Nancy Davis, Annie (Chris) Swan; Sister Beth Parrish, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his grandson Mac Blake.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 11 A.M., at the Little Cottonwood 16th Ward, 6350 So. Rodeo Ln. Family and friends may visit Monday evening from 6:30 to 8 P.M. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, or Tuesday morning one hour prior to the services. Internment at Elysian Gardens with military honors.
