Henry Glen Beckstead, age 89, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away January 13th, 2012 with family at his side. Born April 10, 1922, in Salt Lake City to James and Gertrude Hardcastle Beckstead. Graduated South High School in 1940. Attended University of Utah. Married his school sweetheart Shirley Mae Millham January 28, 1942. Member of the LDS Church. Glen toured in the 1930's with a musical group "Utah Jr. Wranglers" throughout the western states on the vaudeville circuit showcasing his musical talent. He then shared this teaching accordion lessons to many young people for years. He worked 42 years as manager for the Summerhays Music Company. He received the Music Educator's Award in 1986 for service to the Utah Music community. Served as sergeant in the artillery with the first army in World War II participating in the European Theater of War. After advancing across Europe, he was among the first to greet the Russian Army advancing from the East. Survived by son, Steve (Ronda) of Draper, Utah, 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Preceded in death by son, Ron (Gayle Myers) of Florida and son Paul (Pam) of Lehi, grandchildren Enoch and Jeni. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, at 2:00PM. A viewing will be held one hour before funeral services at the same location. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
