Mary Fern Leonard Ostler1921 ~ 2012Mary Fern Leonard Ostler passed away peacefully on January 10, 2012. She was born on March 11, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Earl Thomas Leonard and Martha Ida Banks. Fern grew up in Midvale on a small 10-acre farm. She had two sisters, Lillian and Carol, and two brothers, Earl Dean and Ralph. She attended Jordan High School where she was a student body officer and graduated in 1939. She had fond memories of high school and was an excellent student. She married Joseph Lowell Ostler on August 30, 1940 in Salt Lake City; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She had a strong work ethic and worked for the Federal Government most of her working career as an administrative assistant. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family, friends and her dear pets. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in Relief Society and MIA callings.She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Lynne Bray, Riverton; and son, Jay Lowell (June) Ostler, South Jordan; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years and her sister, Lillian Henley.Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 8th Ward, 6180 So.
