MaryJo Bybee Eitel Westenhaver 2/28/1957 ~ 1/8/2012MaryJo Bybee Eitel Westenhaver passed away peacefully in Portland, Oregon on January 8, 2012 after a brave battle with brain cancer. Born in Richmond, Virginia to George and Ethel Bybee Eitel, MaryJo was the youngest of five children. She spent her childhood in Mechanicsville, Virginia. After graduating from Lee-Davis High School, MaryJo moved to Utah to attend college. She married Kurt Westenhaver in 1977. They later divorced. From this marriage came four children: Aaron, Claire, Daniel, and Andrew. MaryJo loved her family more than anything else in this world. Always a hard and dedicated worker, she was an employee of American Express for over 20 years. MaryJo was a longtime resident of West Valley City, Utah. She moved to Portland to spend the final months of her life under the loving care of her daughter and to be closer to her passion: the Pacific Ocean.MaryJo was a talented writer. She had many poems and short stories published throughout her lifetime. She loved animals, especially cats. She was an avid supporter of No More Homeless Pets. MaryJo was a selfless and caring woman. She will be remembered for her quick wit and her infectious laughter. MaryJo will truly be missed.MaryJo was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children Aaron (Lyuda) Westenhaver of Vancouver, WA, Claire (Alex) Westenhaver-Loretz of Portland, OR, Daniel Westenhaver of West Valley City, Andrew Westenhaver of West Valley City, and one grandchild, Lera. She is also survived by one brother, Larry Eitel, three sisters Carole Terry, Marcie Terrell, and Diane Lifferth, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.A memorial service for MaryJo will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2 pm at Murray Memorial, 5850 S 900 E in Murray.
